One Last Ride

12/04/2022

Hello and Welcome to Takes by Hoff. We have one more week of the regular season left.  One more ride.  If this were a Fast and the Furious movie, Dom would be calling up Mia right now.  Mia wants Dom to stop since he is a father, and since he has a nephew now that relies on him, but Dom tells Mia that the person they are chasing it was THE MASTERMIND behind the mission that was responsible for the Busters death.  Dom PROMISED Mia that this was the last one, but deep down, in her heart of hearts, she knew Dom would be back.  She knew...Tyrese, Han, Luda, Kurt Russell, the Rock, and everyone then meets Mia, and begs her.  It works.  Dom saves the day, and the family name is restored. Leddy gets a little banged up, but that is to be expected at this point.  We will recap the last week, preview the final week, get some Takes (TM) off, and much more.  Let us ride.  As always, the Takes are brought to you by High Noon Lime, Southwest Chicken Taquitos, and Fire (OG, Jimi Hendrix song, and human's greatest invention)

Week 13 Recap - Wild and consequential week for the Player Haters Ball.  Lets start with Tidwell.  Tidwell is falling.  Falling hard.  Joe takes him out back courtesy of the AJ Brown and Jalen Hurts combining for about 72 points.  Joe is prime right now.  Prime and ready to break out in a big postseason.  Kupp and Mooney are out for the year, and that means we are starting Van Jefferson. CEH, and Brandon Cooks are out, so he started Myers.  He needs to get it going, and get it healthy quick .  Joe gets three points, and he is a new entrant for most likely to make the title game... Mike had a 40 point bomb from Davante Adams, but also had all of his quarterback room break their bodies. Jackson and Lawerence both went out, although Lawerence came back.  This obviously lowers the ceiling for Mike long term if Lamar is out.  Nolan had 4 guys score 10 points exactly. which is kind of cool.  I am writing this at 7:10 on Sunday night, so maybe he will get one more if Kamara and his kicker put up ten points.  I called Nolan in the title game before the season, I am not floundering...After starting 0-9, Nick is now 4-0 in his last four.  DO NOT let Nick get hot.  He had great all around games from just about everybody in his lineup.  Jordan had both Cortland Sutton and Jaylen Waddle leave their games with injury, and they only combined scored like 2 points.  These two teams are at the bottom, so let us move on, eh?  Good victory, Nick... Micah had to be shakin in his boots all day.  It looked like a total let down as Micah was losing to George by 15 or so going into Sunday Night Football.  Fortunately for Micah, Dallas was playing Indy.  Dallas scored about 20 points for Micah to edge out a big win.  Micah gets his point, and keeps his pace for the playoffs.... Game of the week between Kyle and BJ.  BJ had a big showing from Garrett Wilson. If we had a true keeper league, Beej having Christian Kirk, Davonta Smith, Treylon Burks, Garrett Wilson, and Christian Watson would be awesome for your recieving corps, but ya know, we are not.  Kyle gets another great all around preformance, even though Derrick Henry had some delays this weekend on the schedule... George had his Defense and flex combine for -5 points, and JB has a so so game and beats George.  JB is classic 6 seed material.  With McCaffrey rejuvenated, let's see if we can sneak past a falling Steve to jump into the 'yoffs.

Week 14 Preview/Playoff Scenarios -  We can kind of forget about Beej vs George for this week.  It is like that one random bowl on New Years Day that is right before the National Playoffs, like New Mexico State vs. UAB (Bowl season is coming up, get your sportsbooks ready)...Nolan vs. Stone, and Micah vs. Tidwell.  Those are the two matchups to watch if you care about playoff seeding and placement.  Ya know what, I would like to outsource this one to JB - Hey JB - what are the scenarios?

Crime Dog - Fred McGriff got elected to the hall of fame this week, and it is about time.  First of all, let's just recognize that he was in the Tom Emanski defensive drills videos that were staples of our childhood, and ran all the time during SportsCenter commercials.  I, being an early bird even when I was like 8, vividly remember those being on in the dark with only the glow of the TV at like 6:08 AM when I was warming up some Eggos.  I was a big Eggos guy.  I still am, to be frank.  Eggos, CTC, or a bagel with cream cheese, along with McDonalds, were basically all I ever had for breakfast until I was like 15.  Fun facts about Fred McGriff: Apparently Chris Berman gave him the nickname.  He originated it.  Isn't that fun?  The 1994 strike shortened the season by 66 games, and he only missed 500 HR by 7 dongs.  Gotta think if he just played those he gets 7 and he is in a while ago, but alas. 6 seasons of being a top 10 MVP guy. From 88-96 he batted .290, and averaged 33 HR, 28 doubles, and 95 RBI with 88 walks and an almost .400 OBP. He had 12 HR and 48 RBI with the Cubs in only 45 games in 2001.  In 50 games in the postseason, he hit over .300. 3rd most games played at 1B in MLB History.

Fun Stats - Justin Herbert now has the most 300-yard games in his first three seasons in NFL history... Geno Smith has been a top 12 QB in five consecutive weeks... Deshaun Watson had his third worst fantasy game of his career this sunday (good)...Both Jalen Hurts and Patrick Mahomes are set to finish the 2022 regular season with the most fantasy points for a QB...Rams are officially the worst defending champion of all time according to record... Justin Fields ALREADY has the record for most 50 yard rushes by a QB... Geno Smith is on pace for the third best completion percentage in a single season of all time.  Drew Brees has the number 1 and 2 spot...Broncos are on pace to score 1.17 TDs a game, worst mark since 2011... Dionte Johnson has 0 TDs this season on105 targets...Tyler Lockett ranks 11th in catches, 11th in yards, and 5th in TDs this season.  Pick of the draft from Nick...
