Lets talk about Week 3
Hey, remember when Joe was co-commissioner for like 5 weeks. That was fun... Welcome to Hoff's Hot Takes for the week 3 Player Haters Ball wrap up. Today's takes are brought to you by Tic Tacs, Monster Energy, and Nutrigrain Bars. Today we have game recaps, trending down and trending up, King of the Hill update, an interview with Nick, and much more.
Trending Down : Tidwell - tough week. Nick beats him by 1.7. He needed some points out of Allen Robinson, but Mitch kept going to Taylor Gabriel. Tidwell also had the unfortunate pleasure of (probably) waking up to hearing Saquon Barkley is out until its almost Thanksgiving. Antonio Brown is probably retired. Tidwell trends down... TJ Hockenson scored 25 in his rookie debut, and 1.8 in his next two games... BJ and Micah - teams that are 0-3 have never made the playoffs. I don't know how this happens, but Beej has again faced the most points this far into this season… Gurley and Fournette as big time rushers may be done. They are both averaging about 10 points a game, and not living up to the pre draft hype. Gurley in his last dominant season only had one game under 20 points...
Trending up: Jordan trends up. Back to back weeks with 3 points. His 3 starting WRs scored over 160 points the last two weeks, and will be a consistent force moving forward. Jordan moves to 2-1, and is playing Peter and Micah coming up, so he could be 4-1 moving into a week 6 matchup with Nolan. Keenan Allen and Julio Jones are the #1 and #2 receiver this season so far.... Beej and Nick are trending up because they got a point They are both now on pace for 4 points. it should be a good race to the bottom...Kyle has Lamar Jackson still going, and traded for Travis Kelce. He would have lost without him. Kyle also has Terry McLauren who apparently is the only person who can get something passed in Washington... a cha cha cha… JB is crusing, starting off 3-0. McCaffrey,Eckler, and Ingram are RB 2,3, and 4 so far this season. Cam and Brees are out, so he is going to rely on Andy Dalton for a stretch here, and quite frankly, id rather rely on Andy Dufranse.
Here is our interview with Nick. Nick is coming off of a win and is probably feeling pretty good for a guy who just scored 78 points. #ANF
Jordan: Mt. Rushmore of Truly flavors?
Nick: Blueberry, Mango, Lemon, Pomegranite
Jordan: A stanger knocks on your door and gives you $1,000 cash, but you have to spend it in 30 minutes in the real world (no ubers, no apps, etc... cash exchanges only). Where do you go, what do you buy?
Nick: I would haul ass to ORD, get to the American counter, and buy a flight to anywhere in Europe. Figure out the rest later... Door to ticket counter would be tough, so I assume I would just to to Binnys.
Jordan: Garner Minschew walks into a bar and orders a beer, a shot, and a cocktail : What are those beverages?
Nick : A PBR, shot of Crown Royal, and a Crown on the rocks.
Jordan: Make an even 6 on 6 pick up basketball game for the Player Haters Ball
Nick: Lets be honest, Jordan is the only one who can actually hoop in this group. I think a JB/Joe and Micah/Stone matchup in the post would be awesome. Nozicka and Berrones would run around in circles covering each other and pretending they were Klay and Steph. Id go JB Mike BJ Jordan Micah and Tidwell vs. Gaza George Nolan Nozicka Stone and Rill.
Jordan: Nick Jr. grows up and in 18 years gets into every Power 5 school in the country. He says you can narrow his list down to 5 schools, but he gets to pick where he attends. What schools do you narrow it down to?
Nick: Clemson (football and lively campus). Wisconsin (Madison is wild and everyone seems to turn out alright). Texas (Austin TX, Need I say more?). Arizona (Visited once, and it was lovely. My dad said I couldn't go there or I would be a traitor). Vandy (Nashville, Rich area, and smart people only).
George and Joe went at it this week in a possible playoff matchup preview. George squeaks out a win by 5 points. Dalvin Cook continues to be a badass for Joe, but we gotta wonder how long until he gets hurt. Odell, Kittle, and Adams all were kept under 8 and a half points this week, which has to be an outlier. Gotta figure he turns Kittle into a better piece for his lineup, and goes with Waller here on out maybe. George moves to 2-1 but is only top 6 in one of his three games, currently on the outside of the playoffs looking in. Hilton may be out, so he is gonna need Tyler Boyd to step up.
Ever want to know who the best teams in Player Haters Ball of all time were? We went back and applied our Power Rankings system to every year for every team. Without further ado, here is the 12 best PHB teams of all time,
Random Stats : Jordan is going for three points in three consecutive weeks. It has only been done three times before... Daniel Jones had the second most points in a debut for a QB ever...Mike Evans had the second best fantasy game in Tampa Bay Bucs history...Russell Wilson had his best fantasy game of his career...Through three weeks, out of the top 20 scorers who are non QB's, 9 of them were keepers, and 11 were drafted : Round 1 - Dalvin Cook, Julio Jones, Mike Evans. Round 2 - Keenan Allen, TY Hilton. Round 3- Mark Ingram. Round 8 -Sammy Watkins. Round 10 - Larry Fitz. Round 16 - John Ross III. Free Agency - Terry McLaurin, and DJ Chark.
King of the Hill update: Not only is Tidwell on the "trending down" section, he also lost King of the Hill this week. Losing by 1.6 points for both a win AND the King of the Hill. Thanks for playing. Eliminated : Beej, Peter, Steve. Contending: Kyle, Jordan, JB, Joe, Nolan, George, Mike, Micah, and Nick
Nolan and Mike had a tangle in another possible playoff preview. Mike puts up 132 in a loss, still collecting a point however. Mahomes is a cheat code : his 35 points this week is a season low. Edelman is banged up a bit, but if Chubb and another one of his running backs step up this is a title team. Maybe Mike takes Kittle off of Joe's hands? Nolan keeps on keeping on, but is still looking in on the playoffs. He should shine during massive bye weeks hoever cause his team is deep. As long as Watson is walking, he should be a top 5 guy, and Kamara is consistently awesome. Look for him to make a push up the standings the next few weeks if he gets anything from Fournette.
Playoff Standings

Week 4 predictions : Jordan, Joe, Rill, Mike, Nolan, Micah. Give me Jordan for 3 points
Record picking games: 7-11
