Last Takes of the Regular Season for the Dirty Dozen

Hello and welcome to Hoff's Hot Takes. We are done with the regular season, and we are rolling along to the playoffs. We are gonna do some recaps for each team coming up here from the regular season. We have good playoffs set up. Congrats to the teams that made it. Today's Takes are brought to you by Noon Whistle Brewing Company, Kraft, and Apple+. Probably will do a playoff recap at the end, and I am going to commission some stuff from you guys to contribute. I am tired of typing here... Maybe an offseason preview, or maybe Star gives me who he would keep for every team. Gonna get fun with the final one, ya know.... Let's Ride! We are gonna start with The Band in honor of Robbie Robertson. P.S - Levon Helm singing that amazingly while drumming is amazing.
Regular Season Recaps for each team....
Alex Berry - Alex finished the season with the 9th best record at 78-121-17.... Alex Berry made the least amount off add/drops this season with only 9!... Alex had 15 steals in a matchup. Tied for most in a single matchup all season... Alex had Wander Franco this year. He was good. He kind of fell off a bit recently though. I think he may need some time in the minors. I mean, Wander loves the minors... He also was lead by Logan Gilbert and Nick Castellanos.
Alex Kurgan - 'Topes finish 102-94-20. GO 'TOPES! Kurgan was second in the league in wins. Micah got him by 1... Kurgan DOMINATED the league in saves. Like seriously, like 22 saves. Crazy... Kurgan has Matt Olson who is on a heater and has a Player Rating these last two weeks on 23.61.... Kurgan ended up with the 4th and 5th best players on the Player Rater for the regular season... Alex Kurgan had 66 RBI one of these last weeks. That is the most RBI in a matchup all season... Alex also had a heater with a Matchup where he had a 1.28 ERA, and a .796 WHIP - both league highs for a single matchup.
Bill Brey - 114-86-16 was the record for Bill this season. Finishing with the 4th best record of the league this season... Brey edged out Star by one HR to lead the league in Dingers... Brey also led the league in Quality Starts by a large margin.... Marcus Simein, Adolis Garcia, and Gerrit Cole lead the way for Bill this season.... Bill got the majority of his wins in May and the end of July... Bill Brey hit 19 dingers one matchup. That is the most amount of homeruns in a matchup all season... Bill had 15 SB in a matchup as well, which ties him with AlBear for the most in one matchup.
Joe Gaza - Joe had a strong second half and finished with the second-best record - 125-78-13... Joe's lineup batted .271 as a team, which lead the Dirty Diez... Joe lead the Dirty Dozen in OPS as well... Joe lead the league in WHIP at 1.158... Gaza ended up with Ronald Acuna after Mike completed the quickest transition from buying to selling I have ever seen. Acuna ended up having the 4th most hits during our regular season, and the most runs. He also is batting .337!.. Good trade here, and a huge reason why I like Joe going to the Ship... Ronald Acuna has a .995 OPS... Gaza ended the season with the top three players on the player rater (Acuna, Ohtani, and Freeman.)... He also has Kyle Tucker who is 6th. Joe had the most runs in a single matchup that was not two weeks (opening week/all star break week). Joe scored 61 runs in a matchup. Most in the league.
Jordan Hoffmann - Jordan finished dead last this season - 71-130-15.... Jordan was last or second to last in the following categories: Runs, SB, Average, Quality Starts, Wins, and Saves.... He sucked. Lets move on.
Micah Yarborough -101-100-15 record for Mr. Yarbs. I like that out of him - he doesn't want to embarrass the guys so he finishes 1 game over .500... Micah leads the league in pitching wins...Micah has Corbin Carroll and Cody Bellinger who are both top 3 OFs... I also would like to put my hand up and say I was wrong. I believe I texted Micah that Cody was not my type of player. He is pretty good though... The Choad Blasters were quite up and down this season. They had a 3 game losing streak, and a two game winning streak, but usually he flip flopped between winning and losing. Bobby Witt, Corbin Carroll, and Cody Bellinger lead the way for Micah this season on the player rater.
Mike Berrones - First thing I will say about my friend Mike : He only had 8 ties this season, a league low. I respect that. No ties. This is #Murica... Mike led the league this season in SB, so that is cool. #Worth... Mike came out of the box hot. In the first matchup on the league season, Mike batted .337 and had an OPS of .9672. Both of those would not be beaten in a single matchup for the rest of the season...
Mike Kloss - Kloss finished this season with the league's best record - 131-70-15... Kloss finished first in the league in RBI....Kloss finished first this season with a 3.50 ERA....He finished first in the league in runs... Kloss also lead the league in K/9 - Over 10!!!... Kloss has the #1 third baseman in the game. His name Austin Riley.... Kloss had two seperate matchups where he totaled 8 wins. AlBear did that one time. Nobody else did it once... Mike also has the mark of 8 saves for a single matchup.
Nolan Weick- Nolan finished with a record of 82-118-16, finishing 8th out of 10.... Nolan lead the league with 56 add/drops... Nolan won his first matchup of the season in convincing fashion - a 10-1-1 win over Jordan. After that, he did not win a matchup until June 26th-July 2nd... He has Jackson Holiday on his bench, so that is cool... Luis Robert, Lane Thomas, and Felix Bautista led the way for Nolan all season on the player rater... Nolan had Felix Bautista and Luis Robert be number one guys at their position.... Nolan had a week where he had a K/9 of 11.927, which is the best single matchup for K/9 in the league this season.
Ryan Starcevich - 119-89-9. 3rd best season here. Was second for most of the season.... The Bro Stars have two guys #1 at their position, and both are Braves - Ozzie Albies, and Sean Murphy... Ozzie Albies, Corey Seager, and Juan Soto led the way for Star this year by being his three best players on the player rater... Elly De La Cruz came up a month ago, and he finished 15th at his position... Star did not lose in the month of June.
Playoff Preview - Kloss and Star got their byes. Good job on you, pals. We got Joe vs. Micah, and Brey vs. Kurgan.... As of Wednesday afternoon, The 'Topes are taking it Billy, 8-3-1. Kurgan is killing it in average, and QS. Micah is winning 4-5-3 over Joe. Micah looking strong at this point, but it is really early. If his WHIP held up, it would be a season low for a matchup. I would have seen these going a bit differently. I had no idea how long the playoffs are. Give me 'Topes, and Gaza to move on. Kurgan vs. Kloss, and Gaza vs. Star. Then Give me Kloss vs. Gaza in the ship. I kinda wanna pick Joe, but I have been riding Kloss winning all season, so...
Kloss: Congrats!

Random Stuff - 1998 MVP Sammy Sosa had 643 ABs. He had 171 Ks (lead the leaague), and 66 Homeruns. That means that 36% of his ABs ended in a K or HR. Adam Dunn in 2012 had 539 AB. He had 222 Ks and 41 Homers. He also lead the league in walks with 105. That means 69% of Adam Dunn ABs that year ended with a walk, HR, or K. Ahead of his time, eh?... From 1996-2012, Derek Jeter had 3,292 hits, averaged 20 SB a year, averaged 30 doubles a year and batted .313... Tim Lincecum 2008-2011: 62-36 with a 2.81 ERA. 10 Strikeouts per nine innings. Only 3 walks per 9. Good ratio. Lead the league in strikeouts during that 4 year run as well.
