Hoff's Hot Takes : Week 1 Redzone Explosion

Good Morning.  Welcome to Hoff's Hot Takes.  Peace be with you.  The Redzone countdown got me going Sunday morning, not going to lie.  This week's taeks are brought to you by Lagunitas, hashbrowns, and Sauce.  Jojo is sleeping so I got the first little bit to do a live blog. Leggo... This week we got the first victim of King of the Hill, a week 1 recap, an interview with JB, and much more.

12:05...Philip Rivers looks great in Colts Blue.  It is a natural transition from his old uniforms.  They marched down the field and it was mainly Nyheem Hynes.  Obvsiouly... Excited about Cam on New England.  Him plus Belichick and McDaniels should lead to a lot of cool run plays... Zach Ertz scores a TD to put Philly up 7.  Ridley gets some big points right after.  That is a big thing for me to watch all season. 

12:15 - Mark Andrews with a monster grab to give Peter some good points.... Carlos Hyde sighting!!! Henry Ruggs sighting with a huuuuuge bomb from Derek Carr. It is from Carr, so I don't know if bomb is appropriate however... THE FALCONS JERSEYS ARE (insert flame emoji/ Reggaeton Horn).  They just said the new LA stadium cost 5 billion dollars, which is not much bigger than the GDP of Honduras.  

12:25 : Peter is currently projected to win with a certanty of 69%. Nice... Jordan is double pissed because Josh Allen just rushed one in, and Devin Singletary wasnt on the field for the first and goal opportunity - It was Zach Moss.  Oh Yah - Diggs got the PI in the endzone that put the ball on the 1.  Harsh toke... Jealon Reagar joins Ruggs with huge plays from rookies... The bottom scroll shows CEH had 138 yards.  Tidwell got a huge game from the rookie.  Safe to say that the Chiefs are a wagon.  That RB should be a top ten guy.  So congrats to Tidwell for a probable future of being really good... Cairo Santos on the field for the Bears - 35 yards - its good.  Jesus... As of right now, 25 minutes in, there is only one game that's projected to be within 15 points. 

1:12 - MIke and Peter look to be in the clear for wins at this point, with their win probability at 80% about... and Jojo is up.  Got a good hour and twelve to myself... For those of you who know you know, for those that don't, you will...lets shift to our interview.  We start every year with our fearless leader, JB.  For the 4th straight season, lets hear some thoughts from John on week 1.

 Question 1 : JB, give me 50 words on chips.

JB: Does anyone else visually inspect Doritos when eating them looking for chips with maximum seasoning coverage? I would pay 2-3 times the normal price of a bag of Doritos that has maximum seasoning for every chip. Seems like a gap that needs to be addressed. That is 45 words, actually. 

Question 2: A millionaire restaurant guy comes to you and asks to open a restaurant.  Guy gives you 100% control, but the only stipulation is that it has to be a theme restaurant.  The theme can be what ever you want it to be, but it has to be based on a movie.  What movie do you choose?

JB: Great Gatsby.  People love the 20's.  Feel like the theme does not get gimmicky quickly.  

Question 3 : Go to pizza spot growing up?  What was your go to pie?

JB:  BBQ chicken pizza was my go to at CPK as a kid.  Back when CPK was a treat at Woodfield Mall.  Favorite spot in high school growing up was Emils.  When I became Nana's delivery driver, I loved their BLT.  ( JB - you should keep Nana's delivery driver on your resume)

Question 4: Mt. Rushmore of teen movies

JB: Superbad. Mean Girls. Ferris Bueller. American Pie. 

Question 5: What are the worst uniforms in sports?

JB: If we go with what we saw today, the ATL new uniforms are not good, and I do not like the Rams new uniforms.  I also do not like the throwback Steelers jerseys. 

WEEK 1 RECAP - Mike stacks up the Chiefs on Thursday night, leading to him to a W over Micah. Micah is going to get a great season out of Aaron Rodgers, and Mike has Dobbins lined up to be a great compliment to Chubb, however, it may be a headache with him and Ingram... Jordan put up a decent score, but lost to the Wagon that is Peter.  Peter has the entire Detroit Lions backfield, which is not as ridiculous as it sounds.  He also has Julio and DeAndre at WR every week, so that's a guaranteed 40 points most week there... Rilli Thing was a sure thing this weekend against BJ.  Nick got a combined 60 points from Russell Wilson and Zeke Elliot. Beej had Cam Akers looking good, but that is going to be a shitshow of a running back situation, actually the whole city of LA.  Cam is good though, and the future with Cam Akers, Miles Sanders, and Kyler Murray will be really solid... OBJ's Full Service Steamer has made a happy team manager out of Steve this week with a resounding victory over George.  George had a bunch of hype in the preseason, but must have let the hype get to his head.  A week two matchup with Nick could leave George 0-2 and ready to sell sell sell (even more than usual).  Tidwell is one dude away from being a title contender. Barkley had 15 carries for 6 yards...Nolan takes JB out back and shows him what its really like.  Michael Thomas had his worst game since November 2018. I like Nolan's team, man... Joe beats Kyle.  Joe's team is a wagon.  Kyle got a mediocre game from Lamar Jackson and he still got him 27 points.  

King of the Hill :  As a reminder, King of the HIll is a contest where the low man gets eliminated every week.  There is no reward or penalty, although (Trump voice) people are saying that it could be included in the payout at some point... some smart people.. high ranking people... were looking at it.  Micah is eliminated this year in week one.  Thank you for your service.  As a consolation, here is a minute and a half of Vinny Castilla Highlights set to some weird 80's synth pop nintendo style music.  Spoiler : It is mainly just mashing taters with a few mediocre plays at third.

Week 1 Historical Notes : Had a friend ask to see who had the worst week 1 ever.  Ask and ye shall receive.  MIchael Berrones in 2010 led the Fear Boners to 45.5 points. Micah had 63.7 this weekend.  Joe had 67 points in 2018

Fun Facts : Cam Newton had as many points from rushing yesterday as Tom Brady did in the whole 2019 season...Sunday was Josh Jacobs best game of all time in terms of receiving, and fantasy points...Surprisingly, Davante Adams 37 points were his personal best of his career....US Open picks - Brooks, Justin Thomas, Rickie Fowler, Chez Reavie.... Watching Monday Night Football, it was stated that last season the Titans had a 10 game stretch where they only had one total field goal... Derrick Henry has 1,458 rushing yards in his last ten games played.
